Varnished Oil with 23K gold leaf over acrylic on gallery=wrapped canvas
Pegasus is the flying horse from Greek mythology. Pegasus was born when Perseus cut off the head of Medusa. Apparently Pegasus sprung from her neck. Now, Pegasus was not Athena’s horse but he was tamed by the golden bridle that Athena gave to Bellerophon. (Funny about things springing from necks and upper body parts. Athena apparently sprung from the head of Zeus after he ate Athena’s pregnant mother and suffered a migraine of epic proportions. Hephaestus (because he is well versed in medicine) grabbed an ax and cut Zeus’s head open because that is how you cure a migraine of epic proportions. Out popped Athena fully grown and garbed in battle garb. The sky and earth trembled. AWESOME!
